Region 10 Technology Academy Blog

Welcome to the Region 10 Technology Academy! The purpose of this blog [short for web log] is to introduce you to a new type of publishing that has taken media, education, and politics by storm. In our brief activity, we will use this blog to demonstrate how groups and individuals can publish their thoughts, dreams, and visions of technology to a wider audience via the Internet. We hope you enjoy this experience!

Sincerely,
The Region 10 Technology Academy Team

Challenge #3

You are in the middle of executing a wonderfully planned six week Technology Enhanced Project. This project has been the only activity in which the students have been enthusiastically involved in all year. Students have been asking questions, working well within groups, and are excited to begin each day. At the next staff meeting, your Principal announces that all teachers must now focus on Test Prep, as your school has just been added to the SURR List. How would you address this challenge?

We would point out or emphasize the parts of the project which may be utilizing the same skills that would be practiced in test prep such sequencing, analyzing, predicting, identifying main idea, reading for meaning, inferencing, identifying details, etc. We would also allocate a certain amount of time to use the more traditional test prep materials.

IN reference to challenge #3 the solution that Gordon and I have come up with to resolve the intergration of technology during test prep is combining the literarcy and social studies block to create a project based on that months focus of study. One way you could do this is creating a web quest to do with the class and the final project would be a power point presentation to demonstrate their work. Example: searching a web quest for women's history month about biographies of various famous women and then creating a power point in which they take on the personalities of the women.

Our suggestions would be to integrate the Technology into the test prep. The Project could also be maximized to include parents and staff. The project and test prep could be done on a bi-weekly basis in order to incorporate both task.

1.Draft parent letter soliciting permission from parents to keep students after school for one hour Monday to Thursday.

2. Encourage student to meet 3 Saturdays per month 9:00 Am to 11:00AM ,to continue technology advancement in their projects.
